2026 Naver SmartStore Product Name SEO Guide
Naver Shopping ranks products based on a composite score of product name, category, tags, reviews, and sales volume. The product name is the first variable that sellers fully control — the same item at the same price can get dramatically different exposure depending solely on how the name is written. This guide summarises the practical rules for 2026, based on Naver's published product-name guidelines (2023 and 2024 revisions) and seller community feedback.
Naver and SmartStore are services of Naver Corp. This site has no official affiliation with Naver. This guide is reference material based on public policy and community-gathered information. Always verify the final registration requirements at the SmartStore Seller Center.
1. Product name must be 50 characters or fewer (spaces included)
Naver treats the 50-character limit as a strong recommendation that is effectively enforced. Names longer than 50 characters are truncated on mobile and lose keyword-matching weight. The count includes Korean, Latin, digits and spaces all as one character each. Targeting the 40–50 character range is the safest strategy.
- Too short (under 20 characters): insufficient keywords, poor long-tail matching
- Optimal (40–50 characters): maximum length utilization; this tool awards bonus points
- Over limit (51+): automatic disqualification; this tool removes these candidates
2. Remove duplicate words
Repeating the same word — e.g., "wireless earphones Bluetooth earphones wireless" — is treated by Naver as keyword stuffing and lowers the ranking. If you want multiple keywords in the same field, use distinct synonyms (earphones / earset / in-ear) once each, and make sure the brand name and product category each appear only once in the full name.
This tool tokenises by spaces and deduplicates case-insensitively.
3. Special characters and emoji are prohibited
Brackets, asterisks, emoji, arrows and other decorative symbols are ignored or penalised by Naver's search pipeline. A name like "[Official]★Wireless Earphones★" renders broken on mobile and is reliably excluded from top results.
4. Promotional words are penalised
Naver's guide explicitly tells sellers to remove subjective modifiers, exaggerated claims and urgency-marketing words from product names. These belong in the shipping/benefits section or the product description page, not the name.
Examples of penalised promotional words: 특가 (special price), 최저가 (lowest price), 베스트 (best), 정품 (authentic), 당일발송 (same-day shipping), etc.
5. Keyword order — brand · category · attributes
Naver does not officially mandate a fixed order, but the field-proven optimal pattern is generally "Brand → Product category → Model / key attributes → Secondary attributes → Related keywords". For new or no-brand sellers, putting the product category first improves click-through rate. This tool applies 7 order templates by default.
| Code | Order |
|---|---|
6. Single space between keyword boundaries
Naver uses spaces as keyword delimiters. Writing "wirelessearphones" as one compound may not match searches for "wireless earphones", and excessive spaces reduce readability. Maintain exactly one space between keywords and choose consistently between compound (무선이어폰) and split (무선 이어폰) notation.
7. 30 tags are separate from the product name — no overlapping
SmartStore supports up to 30 tags. Use tags to supplement long-tail and related search terms that didn't fit in the product name. Re-using words from the product name as tags risks a duplicate-keyword penalty.
- Product name: core keywords + primary attributes (50 chars)
- Tags: related terms and long-tail queries (30 tags)
- Description / image alt text: supplementary info that couldn't fit above
8. How the SEO score is calculated
The SEO score (0–100) is the sum of the following weights. It is an independent internal heuristic, not Naver's actual algorithm.
- Within 50 characters: base 30 points
- Length utilization (40–50 chars +20, 30–39 +14, 20–29 +8, otherwise +3)
- No duplicate words +10
- No special characters +10
- No promotional words +10
- Correct spacing +5
- Core keyword included +15
- 2+ related keywords included +10 (1 keyword +5)
9. How this tool compares to competitors
Itemscout and Pandarank are primarily keyword search-volume and sales analytics platforms; product-name generation is a secondary feature that requires a paid subscription or Chrome extension. This tool is free, no account required, single-purpose — it quickly handles the 50-char limit, duplicate removal, and keyword ordering. For search-volume data, pair this tool with Itemscout's free tier: generate 30 candidate names here, export to CSV, then cross-reference keyword volumes there.
